Support | Daylight Savings Time Update for Windows Mobile Powered Devices

On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.

How Does This Change Affect Me?

The change to the start of Daylight Savings time will not be automatically propagated to your Windows Mobile powered device, and will require some manual intervention to ensure that the time is correct. This is important as the date and time on your device is captured as the time dictations are created. Please refer to the Microsoft website regarding preparations for the new 2007 DST changes.

It is important to note that you must manually change your device to a different time zone (make sure you click “OK” to actually change it). After changing your time zone you can then immediately change it back to your desired time zone. This will force the device to read the new registry settings.
